News: Police arrest man in connection with hit-and-run on E Bay St

OSPREY, FL – According to WFLA, authorities have apprehended a man who allegedly fled the scene after colliding with a 13-year-old girl on E Bay St Tuesday.

David Chang, 65, is accused of striking the girl with his dark silver sedan while riding her bike in a crosswalk on E Bay St near Pine View School at around 4:15 p.m.

First responders transported the girl to an area hospital in critical condition.

Troopers arrested Chang after receiving a tip from a concerned citizen. They say Chang brought his vehicle to a repair shop in Tampa to conceal the evidence of the collision.

Authorities arrested Chang on multiple charges, including fleeing the scene with damage to property, tampering with evidence, and fleeing the scene with great bodily injury.
