News: Woman under arrest in connection with fatal Tampa hit-and-run

TAMPA, FL – Police in Tampa say they have made an arrest in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash on Wednesday morning.

According to WTSP, 29-year-old Queenasia Powell faces multiple criminal charges, including leaving the scene of a crash with death and DUI manslaughter.

Police said Powell was driving a Honda Accord on North 11th Street near East Poinsettia Avenue when she put the car in reverse and struck a woman who was standing on the street, then dragged her.

Responding officers said Powell noticed that the woman was seriously injured but left the scene without stopping to help. The victim died of her injuries.

Powell was apprehended a short time later and was identified as the driver of the vehicle. Following her arrest, she was taken to the Orient Road Jail.
