News: Pinellas Park man critically injured when motorcycle collides with pickup truck

PINELLAS PARK, FL – A motorcyclist was critically injured in a collision with a pickup truck on U.S. Highway 19 in Pinellas Park Monday night, police said.

IONTB reported that 58-year-old Debra Felton of St. Petersburg was driving a Ford F150 pickup when she made a left turn from the highway into the parking lot of 9359 U.S. Highway 19 at about 8:40 p.m. Investigators said traffic in the middle lane was stopped at the time, allowing her to make the turn.

At the same time, 67-year-old David Hollis of Pinellas Park was riding a Suzuki motorcycle north in the curb lane of U.S. 19. As Felton’s vehicle entered the curb lane, Hollis changed lanes to avoid a crash, laid down the bike and struck the front end of the pickup.

Hollis sustained injuries that were described as life-threatening and was rushed to an area hospital.

At this time, police do not believe that speed or impairment were contributing factors in the incident.
