News: Woman charged with DUI after crashing into Sarasota deputy’s cruiser
SARASOTA, FL – A suspected drunk driver crashed into the cruiser of a Sarasota County deputy on a highway last week, reports WWSB.
20-year-old Riannon Wittenbauer of Sarasota was arrested following the incident on Interstate 75 early Wednesday. An arrest report stated Wittenbauer was driving northbound in the southbound lanes of State Road 681 in Venice. She then entered the southbound lanes of I-75 while still driving northbound.
Authorities said when a deputy activated his emergency lights and slowed his Tahoe cruiser, Wittenbauer changed lanes and collided with the deputy’s vehicle. Neither driver was seriously injured.
Wittenbauer is facing several charges, including driving under the influence and DUI with property damage. She was released from jail on bond.
