News: Van driver killed in collision with semi-truck in Tampa

TAMPA, FL – State troopers responded to a deadly collision between a van and a semi-trailer truck in Tampa Monday night, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The accident happened on East Fowler Avenue near U.S. 301 at about 10:30 p.m. Authorities said a 58-year-old man was driving the van at a high rate of speed when he was unable to negotiate a curve and drove off the road.

The van went over a median and crashed into the trailer of a semi that had made a turn onto East Fowler Avenue. The van driver, a Tampa resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity was not released.

The driver of the semi was not hurt in the accident.
