News: Pedestrian dies after being struck by minivan in St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – Police say a pedestrian who was severely injured in a crash in St. Petersburg last week has passed away, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

The victim was identified as 62-year-old Marvin Hardy. He was struck by a minivan on Fourth Street North on Sept. 28 at about 9:40 p.m. Investigators said Hardy had stepped from the curb and was hit by the northbound vehicle as he tried to return to the curb.

The driver, 68-year-old Stephen C. Sarnoff, swerved but was unable to avoid hitting Hardy. police said. Sarnoff remained at the scene afterwards. He was driving below the speed limit at the time of the accident.

Hardy was transported to Bayfront Health in critical condition and died on Sunday. Detectives in St. Petersburg are searching for the victim’s relatives and asked anyone with information about him to contact police.
