News: Man who crashed into Sarasota dock charged with boating under the influence

SARASOTA, FL – A man was arrested after crashing into boats that were docked at a Sarasota marina Saturday afternoon. According to WWSB , 32-year-old Brendan Sheridan was charged with three counts of boating while under the influence with property damages.

Police say Sheridan was driving a large boat when he slammed into the dock at the Bayfront Park Marina. The extent of damage to the other boats was not clear. There were no reports of any injuries.

After being charged in the accident, police say Sheridan bonded out of jail early Sunday morning.

In one year 766 boat accidents occurred in Florida alone, and 261 of them involved collisions due to a boating operator’s lack of attention while operating a vessel.
