News: Woman arrested after police chase ends in crash in Hernando County

HERNANDO COUNTY, FL – A woman was taken into custody after a high-speed police chase ended in a crash in Hernando County Monday.

According to WTSP , officers initially tried to stop 57-year-old Joyce Tracy Holubec as she drove a Nissan Armada in Citrus County at about 11 a.m. She had been accused of domestic battery and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the woman refused to stop and the pursuit continued, with Holubec driving at speeds over 100 miles an hour and trying to collide with state troopers.

When the Nissan reached the area of Fort Dade Avenue and State Road 50 in between Brooksville and Spring Hill, troopers were able to perform a precision immobilization technique maneuver on the vehicle, the FHP said.

Holubec drove into nearby woods, where the vehicle overturned.  The woman and two troopers suffered minor injuries in the incident.

After being released from the hospital, Holubec faced numerous charges, including fleeing and eluding, resisting arrest and possession of a firearm during a felony.
