News: Motorcyclist dies after colliding with car on Interstate 275
TAMPA, FL – An accident on Interstate 275 early Sunday morning led to the death of a motorcycle rider. The Tampa Bay Times reports the motorcyclist was riding south on I-275 just north of Memorial Highway when he was struck by a car trying to merge into the center lane at about 12:25 a.m.
The Florida Highway Patrol said both vehicles were knocked into the shoulder of the highway, where they crashed into a guardrail. The 32-year-old motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not released but authorities said he was a resident of Wauchula.
The driver of the car, a 23-year-old St. Petersburg man, was not injured in the crash.
