News: Florida state trooper car struck on I-75 in Manatee County

MANATEE COUNTY, FL – The vehicle of a Florida state trooper was struck in an accident in Manatee County Wednesday, according to WWSB.

The Florida Highway Patrol said that the trooper’s marked Dodge Charger was alongside a pickup truck in a construction zone on Interstate 75 south when the accident occurred at about 1 p.m.

The FHP said another driver hydroplaned on the wet roadway and crashed into the Dodge Charge, which then was forced into the side of the pickup.

The trooper was outside the vehicle but got back into it just as the crash occurred.  The trooper escaped with minor injuries.  The FHP said the incident was a reminder to motorists to drive responsibly and be aware of weather and traffic conditions.
