News: Motorcyclist turns himself in after crash that killed 7-year-old

PORT RICHEY, FL – Authorities say a motorcyclist has surrendered in connection with a crash that claimed the life of a young boy in Pasco County over the weekend.

WFLA reports 19-year-old Shaun Wyrich of Port Richey turned himself in Sunday morning and was booked into the Pasco County Jail.

The victim, a 7-year-old boy, was fatally struck by the Kawasaki Ninja 400 motorcycle as he was crossing Regency Park Boulevard at King Arthur Drive at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday.  Neighbors said the child had been looking at Christmas lights with his family at the time.

According to troopers, Wyrich was going at a high rate of speed when the incident occurred and fled the scene afterwards.  The motorcycle was later located at a home on Fox Hollow Drive.

Wyrich is now facing charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving a death, and no motorcycle endorsement.
