News: Man arrested on DUI charge following deadly crash on I-275

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – An alleged drunk driver was arrested following a fatal accident in St. Petersburg last week, according to WTSP.

This is an update to a previous story.

Bryant Haney faces multiple charges, including DUI manslaughter, in connection with the multi-vehicle wreck on Interstate 275 Thursday night at about 6 p.m.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the incident happened near mile marker 28 on I-275, where four cars were stopped due to traffic.  According to investigators, Haney did not stop and crashed into one of the vehicles, causing a chain-reaction five-vehicle pileup.

One of the drivers, a 37-year-old man from Manatee County, was killed in the accident. Two other people sustained minor injuries.

In addition to the DUI charge, Haney was also charged with driving with a suspended and revoked license.

I-275 near Gandy Boulevard was shut down for several hours for the crash investigation.
